Company from the province Lubuskie, which deals with delegating nannies to work in Germany, underestimated its revenues by over PLN 18 million, which resulted in it not paying nearly PLN 3.5 million in tax – said Ewa Markowicz, spokeswoman for the Chamber of Tax Administration in Zielona Góra.

The company operated in Poland, but made settlements using a fictitious foreign company and foreign bank accounts.
– The inspection revealed an organized mechanism for concealing the actual scale of economic activity conducted in Poland. Our findings show that the recruitment of caregivers, preparation of documentation, organization of transport and insurance were carried out in Poland. At the same time, settlements with foreign contractors were formally conducted through a family-related company registered outside the country, the spokeswoman said.
She added that the scheme used to employ nannies was intended to create the appearance of providing services by an independent foreign entity and to hide actual revenues from the Polish tax authorities, which resulted in underestimation of revenues by PLN 18.3 million and failure to pay nearly PLN 3.5 million of income tax.
Tax audits of this company were conducted in cooperation with the prosecutor's office and the police. To cover future receivables, KAS seized the assets of entities involved in illegal activities.
In light of this case, the spokeswoman appealed to people planning to work as a caregiver abroad, for example seniors, to exercise particular caution and to thoroughly verify employers and intermediaries before leaving.
– You should check, among others: the form of employment, the legality of the entity's activities and the terms of financial settlements to avoid unfair practices and possible legal consequences – said Markowicz. (PAP)
