To get a non -immigrant visa to the USA, the so -called Student, you should make your accounts on social platforms – the United States embassy in Warsaw said on Tuesday, citing the right of 2019. She noted that the recommendation came into force with immediate effect.

The American institution explained that this applies to both travel to the USA “as part of the Academic Studies Program (visa F) and a non -academic course of education (visa M), as well as people applying for a non -immigration visa in connection with participating in the US government approved by the US government, scientific, scientific or cultural (visa j)”.

“This is to facilitate verification procedures necessary to confirm the identity and assess the admissibility of entry to the United States in accordance with the provisions of the US law” – explained the embassy. The facility reminded that from 2019 the United States “requires from applicants for a visa – both immigration and non -immigrant – providing information in visa forms that will allow you to identify them in social media.”

The message published on Platform X emphasized that it is necessary to indicate user names in the DS-160 form (so-called handles) from all social platforms used in the last five years.

In June, the New York Times announced that the State Department is planning to check the social platforms of students and professors visiting at universities in the USA. Applicants for a visa will be checked in terms of possible threat that can be for the United States – the state department officials said “NYT”.

In addition, the administration of US President Donald Trump tried to end the stay of foreign students at Harvard University this spring, which “NYT” described as part of the strategy of attacks aimed at this university.

The Department of State suspended all processes of obtaining visas for students and scientists going to Harvard, but from 9 June they were resumed, because the court in the United States decided that the blockade was unlawful. (PAP)
