The most numerous wounded, 247, come from the ground troops. Another 63 wounded soldiers are from the Navy, 36 wounded are from the Air Force, and 19 are Marines.

The number of American soldiers who lost their lives since the start of the conflict in Iran is 13.

The most recent incident in which the American military was involved is the downing of a fighter plane over Iran, which immediately triggered a search and rescue operation for survivors. One of the pilots was recovered, writes News.

US President Donald Trump on Friday called for a 10% cut in non-defense spending for fiscal year 2027 and a massive $500 billion increase in the military budget, amid the continued US war against Iran.

The budget request for 2027 comes in the context where the president is faced with risky options, the administration is sending US military to the Middle East, and the US population is feeling the economic crisis caused by the skyrocketing gasoline prices due to the conflict.

The massive proposed increase in defense spending to $1.5 trillion from about $1 trillion in 2026 includes a 5 percent to 7 percent pay raise for military personnel at a time when thousands of troops are on active deployment.
