Distrigaz no longer resumes gas supply to the blocks in Rahova: the perimeter subject to investigations has been extended

Distrigaz announced on Monday afternoon that it will no longer supply gas to the area where the explosion in Rahova took place on Friday, explaining that the authorities have expanded the perimeter that is under investigation.

The works to put customers back into operation on the streets Malcoci, Oltina, Pecineaga, Slt. Popa, Popina, Pricopan, Rahovei, Sălaj and Vicina, can no longer be achieved, according to the technical strategy approved by the Decision of the Committee of the Municipality of Bucharest for Emergency Situations, no. 15/19.10.2025, because the perimeter that is subject to research has been extended by the authorities. This measure is in force until a date to be communicated later by the competent authorities“, informed Distrigaz Sud Rețele.

On Monday morning, the company had announced that it was partially resuming the gas supply in the area affected by the explosion in Rahova, stating that it had requested and obtained the approval of the Committee for Emergency Situations of the Municipality of Bucharest and the Institution of the Prefect of the Municipality of Bucharest.

“… in accordance with the Decision of the Committee of the Municipality of Bucharest for Emergency Situations, no. 15/19.10.2025, Distrigaz Sud Rețele received approval for the resumption of natural gas supply to customers located on Malcoci, Oltina, Pecineaga, Slt. Popa, Popina, Pricopan, Rahovei, Sălaj and Vicina, with the exception of the following buildings: street Vicina no. 1, block 32, stairs 1 and 2; Street Vicina no. 3, block 33, stairs 1, 2 and 3; Calea Rahova no. 319, block 30, stairs 1, 2; Calea Rahova no. 317, block 30A”, informed Distrigaz Sud Rețele.

The supplier specifies that, at the buildings located on Vicina street no. 1, block 32, stairs 1 and 2; Street Vicina no. 3, block 33, stairs 1, 2 and 3; Calea Rahova no. 319, block 30, stairs 1, 2; Calea Rahova no. 317, block 30A, the resumption of natural gas supply will be done only after the completion of the investigations of the competent bodies.

We remind you that on Friday morning, at 9:07 a.m., a powerful explosion took place at a block located near the Dimitrie Bolintineanu High School in the Rahova district. As a result, 3 people died and 15 others were injured. Among the injured, 7 people have already been discharged, and one man has been transferred to Austria.

From the first information it emerged that the accumulation of gas led to the explosion, especially since people in the area had reported the strong smell since Thursday and had called the gas distribution company.
