Israeli attack near the Bushehr power station: a security guard died

The area adjacent to the Bushehr nuclear power plant, located in southern Iran, was the target of a new bombing attributed to American-Israeli forces. According to the official IRNA agency, this is the fourth such incident reported near the Gulf coast since the tripartite conflict broke out on February 28.

“Following the US-Zionist criminal attacks this morning, a projectile hit an area near the Bushehr nuclear facility in the southwest“, reported IRNA.
As a result of the explosion, a member of the security staff died, having been hit by fragments of a projectile. Although a building within the compound suffered damage from the shock wave and metal debris, Iranian authorities and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed that the reactors were not directly affected.
Radiation monitoring and official warnings
The IAEA announced that, despite the incident, the level of radiation in the area remained within normal parameters. However, the director general of the organization, Rafael Grossi, launched a call to prevent a potential nuclear disaster.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi drew attention to new attacks targeting the site, warning on platform X that they could lead to radioactive leaks capable of “ending the lives” of Gulf residents, “not only in Tehran”, but further north.
The Bushehr plant, operational since 2011, is supported by the Russian company Rosatom, which is currently working on expanding the facility. The director of Rosatom, Aleksei Lihacev, stated that there are several dozen Russian specialists in the premises. They are to be repatriated next week, in a final phase of evacuation targeting around 200 people. To date, more than 400 Russian citizens have already left Iranian territory since the start of hostilities.
