Donald Trump wants $1.5 trillion for defense. There is a draft budget

The Trump administration plans to ask Congress for approval allocating approximately $1.5 trillion to defense in fiscal year 2027. The Axios website emphasizes that the president's proposal is a declaration of goals rather than a ready-made plan to be adopted by the parliament. The defense funds included in the White House proposal would be by 42 percent higher than in fiscal year 2026.

The project shows that the Pentagon would receive $1.1 trillion and another $350 billion. would go to the purchase of key weapons and the development of the defense industry. The president announced already in January, before the start of the war with Iran, that he would apply for such an amount.
The budget request envisages the purchase of 34 ships for the fleet. The plans include new Trump-class battleships and frigates. The proposal also includes financing the construction of the Golden Dome air defense system.
Cuts in other areas
At the same time, the White House proposes reducing financing of other areas of state activity by approximately 10 percent. Cuts in national ministries would amount to $73 billion and affect, among others, programs related to diversity and inclusion.
The most severe budget cuts would be faced by the Small Business Administration, which… funds would decrease by approximately 67%. The National Science Foundation would have to accept the cut around 55 percent, and the Environmental Protection Agency approximately 52 percent.
