The call-up to the national team for the matches against Turkey and Slovakia was the first in his career, but Coman did not get to make his debut.
Marius Coman, about the moment when Lucescu fainted: “I didn't know how to react”
The Arade striker said that he was surprised and shocked by the situation, when Mircea Lucescu fainted during the technical session preceding the last training session before leaving for Slovakia:
“It was very nasty, the first time I saw something like this live, I didn't know how to react, I didn't feel well for a few hours, and the most important thing is that Mr. Lucescu is fine and out of any danger.”
Asked about his call-up to the national team, Coman explained that the experience was unique, unforgettable, despite not playing:
“You can see that I'm glad I went to the national team, it was an experience I've never had before, especially the match against Turkey, it was something special. Disappointed maybe a little as I was expecting to make my debut but that's unfortunately I didn't and I'll keep working to get there. I can't say that Mr. Hagi will call me up, but I, if I continue in the same way and score goals, will definitely be in their sights. I did not have a personal discussion with Mr. Lucescu.
It's certainly a disappointment that we didn't qualify, that I didn't play is not an important thing. If we had qualified and I hadn't played, I would have been very happy.”

Coman also prefaced the duel on Sunday afternoon in Arad, against the Bucharesters from Metaloglobus, stressing that the match will be a difficult one:
“It will be a difficult game, like the others, but I hope we will be mentally prepared, most importantly. I'm a little tired, I didn't sleep much, I stayed more at the airport, but I'm good to prepare 100% for the match. We must not concede a goal, first of all, be careful in set pieces, because there we conceded a goal and if we consider these things, it will be difficult for them to score against us.
Since Mr. Bratu came, they are better organized, they defend much better, I don't go out as much as with the other coach, and the fact that I scored so many times with them, I can't say that he is my favorite victim.”
