Victor Pițurcă (69 years old), former player and coach at Steaua Bucharest, commented on the recent statements of Radu Miruță, the Minister of National Defense, regarding the conclusions of the checks carried out at the club.

Piturcă emphasized that the League 2 team needs serious investment to return to its former performance level and that any solution must be sustainable in the long term.

Victor Pițurcă, after Miruță's announcement: “Let everyone know that Steaua Bucharest is looking for private individuals”

The former great striker and coach of Stella spoke about the importance of finding private investors and about the prospects of the team:

I am glad that we finally have a minister interested in the fate of the Steaua football team. The horizon is now wide open, I say the best solution is this. Let's find a private person or several, who will invest and let Steaua become what it was again.”

Piturcă explained that discussions with foreign investors are still ongoing, but there is concrete interest:

“I haven't had contact with the representatives of the American company. But as for the Turkish investors, those involved in Galatasaray, I think they are still interested in Steaua. Gigi (no – Gigi Nețoiu) is in a relationship with them, they do business together, and I say she would like to come to Steaua.

And probably many other investors would be interested in Steaua. You asked me about those in the Arab world, unfortunately many of them do not know this yet. A bit of promotion should be done in this regard, to let everyone know that Steaua Bucharest is looking for private players“, Pițurcă said, according to as.ro.

Victor Pițurcă: “One of the clauses is for Steaua to remain at MApN”

Last time a technician at the University of Craiova, Piturcă emphasized how important a serious and involved financial management is:

“I would like to find financially powerful, serious people in Romania who like sports and would like to invest in a club like Steaua Bucharest. I'm sure there are enough.

But they must understand that football is also a business, that money can be made from it. A club with professionals, run very well, can win financially.

Especially since we are talking about a club like Steaua. When he promotes in the first league, at least 5 million euros should be made from sponsorships. Of course, the fans will also return to the stadium. The star has to put on a show and so there will be 30,000 people in the stands again.

Finally, Pițurcă specified the optimal structure for a possible partnership with a private investor:

“A budget of at least 15 million euros per year is needed. The one who invests must also have the first say, that's clear. I see an association with a private company, and one of the clauses is for Steaua to remain with the Ministry of National Defense. That's how I see things, that's what the fans want. But surely the one who comes with the money must lead, be left to do his job.”
