The mayor of Krasnoyarsk spoke about tightening restrictions on electric scooters

2 April 14:31

In Krasnoyarsk, they are considering a ban on the movement of electric scooters in more than 100 territories, including pedestrian zones along Mira, Karl Marx, Lenin and a number of other streets and spaces. Mayor Sergei Vereshchagin spoke about this today.

According to him, the preparation of the legal basis for the decision is now being completed. It implies significant restrictions not only for kick sharing, but also for all transport that falls under the concept of a means of individual mobility.

“The most stringent measures are proposed in the historical center. Having weighed all the pros and cons, we understand that now this is an objective necessity. The area is congested. The metro is under construction, facilities are being prepared for the 400th anniversary, a busy season of road repairs, facades and landscaping lies ahead… The mass arrival of electric scooters will only aggravate the existing discomfort. Safety must be a priority. I do not rule out that after some time the restrictions for the center will be revised,” the head of the city wrote on his social networks.

In addition, Krasnoyarsk will approve a list of places where kicksharing companies can install SIMs. The right to locate there for services will be paid – the funds will go to the city.

Separate provisions are made for the evacuation of abandoned electric scooters and sanctions. Ignoring the rules will be classified as an administrative offense, fines will range from 2 to 100 thousand rubles.

“We will finally make all decisions by the end of April and begin their implementation,” Sergei Vereshchagin promised.
