Mostostal terminates an important contract with GDDKiA. Section of the S19 expressway without a contractor
Mostostal justifies its decision by the lack of cooperation from GDDKiK. The company announced that March 30, 2026 was the deadline for implementing the request to remove contractual violations. The contractor of the 12.5-kilometer section of S19 also announced the pursuit of claims, including contractual penalties and payment for works not completed by the end of the contract. GDDKiA claims that Mostostal does not have sufficient arguments to unilaterally withdraw from the contract and this decision will negatively affect the work schedule.

Mostostal accuses GDDKiA of lack of cooperation
— The contractor's attitude indicates a lack of interest in continuing construction and may affect possible future cooperation with GDDKiA, Joanna Rarus, spokeswoman for the Rzeszów branch of GDDKiA, told PAP.
GDDKiA announced actions resulting from the contract and legal provisions in order to protect the interests of the State Treasury. Rarus emphasized that this situation would negatively affect the work schedule. — We will immediately take the steps necessary to complete this section of the S19 expressway, she announced.
Mostostal Warszawa spokesman Paweł Kwiecień informed that the decision to withdraw from the contract was the result of over a year of lack of cooperation on the part of GDDKiA in the face of “new significant circumstances”. According to him, after signing the contract, two unforeseen problems appeared, which increased the investment costs by a total of approximately PLN 550 million gross.

“The contractor was forced to complete several planned structures with a total length of over 700 m longer than expected. The scale of these additional works corresponds to the construction of an overpass connecting the Świętokrzyski Bridge with the Poniatowski Bridge in Warsaw,” Kwiecień emphasized in information for PAP. According to the contractor, the lack of reaction of the ordering party to these changes would lead to cost overruns by several hundred million PLN and the extension of the works by over two years.
The value of the contract for the S19 section between Domaradze and Iskrzynia exceeds PLN 1 billion. The original completion date of the investment was June 7, 2026. The project is approximately 5% complete.
