According to the assumptions of the program, PFRON covers the difference between the value of the apartment sold and the barrier-free apartment purchased. The maximum amount depends on the location and is calculated based on BGK indicators. The new apartment must allow you to go outside on your own without stairs or thresholds.

As explained by infor.pl, the maximum amount of subsidy is variable and depends on the location of the purchased apartment. “It is calculated as the product of 15 sq m and the average conversion rate of the replacement cost of 1 sq m of usable area of residential buildings.” The latter indicator is announced by Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego in the “Mieszkanie na Start” program for a given quarter

The entire process of submitting and accepting applications takes place electronically, without leaving your home. Applications are accepted from April 2, 2026 through the Support Service System (sow.pfron.org.pl). You will need scans of judgments, documents confirming the right to the premises, photos of barriers and a possible medical certificate.

After positive verification and signing of the contract, the beneficiary has 180 days to present apartment sales and purchase agreements. Funds are paid within 15 days of documenting the difference in value.
