“Last night was a real wake-up call for me (…) It really scared me. I thought I was going to pass out on stage, I really tried to continue my performance, but I couldn't,” she wrote, in the message published on Instagram.

The star of this musical, in which Megan Thee Stallion plays the role of Charles Zidler, the owner of the Moulin Rouge, the 36-year-old artist was replaced halfway through the show to be hospitalized.

According to a spokesman for Megan Thee Stallion, contacted by AFP, “doctors eventually identified extreme fatigue, dehydration, vasoconstriction and a too low metabolism.”

“I'll be back on stage Thursday,” the Houston singer promised her fans in a message, “stronger, clearer and ready to give you 100% of me, as you deserve.”

The musical “Moulin Rouge!” is an adaptation of Baz Luhrmann's film of the same name (2001), currently playing on Broadway. Set in La Belle Epoque Paris, it tells the love story between the poet Christian and the cabaret singer Satine, under the watchful eye of director Zidler, a charismatic and slightly manipulative impresario.

A star of the American female rap scene alongside Cardi B and Nicki Minaj, Megan Thee Stallion, known for her powerful stage presence, freestyles and aggressive flow, has won three Grammy Awards.
