The Melnichenko Foundation is the organizer of the project “Profclasses.FM”, told how its participants undergo training.

The longest third quarter of the school year has ended. For participants in the “Profclasses.FM” project in Borodino, Nazarovo and Sharypovo, this period became a stage of professional self-determination. The project proceeds from the fact that to engage teenagers, only lessons and lectures are not enough: live dialogue and solving practical problems are necessary. This approach was implemented in the system of career guidance project of the Melnichenko Foundation with the support of the city-forming enterprises of JSC SUEK-Krasnoyarsk and JSC SGK.

Training at “Profclasses.FM” includes not only additional classes in exact disciplines and intensive educational courses, but also a rich career guidance program: excursions to production facilities, debates, quizzes, as well as meetings with specialists from fuel and energy complex (FEC) enterprises. Mentors from the Berezovsky, Nazarovsky and Borodino open-pit mines, as well as the Nazarovskaya State District Power Plant, have become full participants in the educational process over the years of project implementation.

In Borodino, schoolchildren together with representatives of the coal mining industry discussed the history and prospects for the development of mining. In Sharypovo, as part of the “Great Challenge” meeting, a discussion between young miners and high school students took place, during which the reasons for the growing popularity of working professions at the present time were discussed on equal terms.

In Nazarovo, a meeting was organized for students with graduates of “Profklassov.FM”, who are currently studying in the field of “Thermal Power Engineering” at Tomsk State University. The personal example of former project participants contributed to strengthening the confidence of current high school students in their future and served as an illustration of the successful construction of a career trajectory, demonstrating that admission to one of the leading universities in the country with subsequent employment at city-forming enterprises is an achievable goal.

Particular attention is paid to interaction with parents. At Nazarovsky Gymnasium No. 9, parents of ninth-graders were provided with information about the organization of preparation for the exam in the specialty “Electrician for the repair and maintenance of electrical equipment.” Upon completion of training after the 9th grade, project participants will receive state-issued certificates of a working profession. Their peers from Borodino have already successfully passed the exam in the specialty “Mine Worker for Mine Surveying Work,” and in Sharypovo, schoolchildren mastered the profession of a mechanic in assembling metal structures.

“The third quarter clearly showed that “Profclasses.FM” is an important and effective navigator for schoolchildren, where children receive a realistic picture of the future, try on a profession through practice and consciously approach the choice of a life’s work. For the cities of Borodino, Nazarovo and Sharypovo, the project has become a tool for securing youth in their small homeland. When a high school student understands that his future begins here and now, that there is a promising job and an opportunity for growth nearby, everyone wins: enterprises receive motivated young specialists, and children gain confidence in the future and a chance to build a career at large fuel and energy enterprises, start families while remaining in their native land,” said the project organizers “Professional classes.FM”.
