The Bureau of the Regional Committee of the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks considered the issue “On the development of mass propaganda work in connection with the elections to the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR.” The adopted resolution proposed, in particular, to systematically hold mass meetings and rallies on the most important political issues of the international and domestic situation, organize speeches by agitators in public places, before film shows and performances, and create information desks in cinemas, clubs, reading rooms, train stations and marinas. All campaigning should be linked to the preparation of the May Day holiday and the 10th anniversary of Birobidzhan.
On this day, the Birobidzhan Star (12+) wrote about the gathering of the first settlers. A large article by I. Ganopolsky, “The Meeting of the First Migrants,” is dedicated to this event. On this day, notable collective farmers, tractor drivers, combine operators, and beekeepers came to Birobidzhan from distant collective farms and villages. The first builders of Birobidzhan came from the construction sites of enterprises. The participants of the rally recalled the first days in Tikhonkaya, various episodes of those times when they were just beginning to master new professions.
