President Nicușor Dan declared on Monday evening that “at the right time” there will be a discussion for the appointment of the heads of the SRI and SIE, as now there is “an inflammation” on the political level.

“It's something that belongs to the president and the Parliament, and at this moment we all realize that it is an inflammation. At the right time we will have this discussion and complete it with an appointment,” said the president, answering a question.

SRI was left without a director in July 2023, after Eduard Hellvig, announced his resignation from the position. He held this position for eight years, since 2015. Since 2018, Gabriel Vlase, former PSD deputy, has been at the helm of SIE.
