The war with Iran has been going on for four weeks, but so far the US president has failed to explain why he started it. Initially, it was supposed to be about changing the regime, but the regime survived. According to Oman's foreign minister, who played the role of mediator, Iran was ready to accept restrictions on the development of its nuclear and long-range missile programs when the United States suddenly decided to attack during the negotiations. According to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the reason was that Israel would attack anyway, so you could say the tail was wagging the dog.
As Edward Luce pointed out in the Financial Times, Trump only had plan A: The Iranian regime was to fall within 72 hours. When that didn't happen, the US president was at a loss because he doesn't plan – he just improvises – so any plan B was out of his reach. That's why Trump has already lost this war.
This war has already had many serious unintended consequences. The most important of these is that Iran has taken control of the crucial Strait of Hormuz, through which one-fifth of the world's oil and gas transport, as well as much of the helium and nitrogen fertilizers, flows, and the Persian Gulf states depend on imports through the strait.
Iran's closing of the Strait of Hormuz had a terrible impact on the global economy. Prices for all types of energy and fertilizers have risen sharply and will remain high, driving inflation around the world and especially in developing countries. Interest rates will remain high or rise while economic growth slows.
The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has just predicted a 0.4 percentage point decline in global economic growth this year. because of the US and Israel's war with Iran. The whole world suffers, but the United States suffers less than Europe and Asia because it produces large amounts of energy itself. However, inflation also affects the US because energy prices are global.

Another consequence is that the Gulf states where US military bases are located have realized that such databases do not actually protect them, but rather make them vulnerable to attacks. All of them were bombed by Iran. It can be assumed that many countries around the world will reconsider the issue of accepting American armed forces. After Trump repeatedly claimed to have destroyed Iran's missiles, Iran fired hundreds of missiles in response, so it turns out Trump was lying, as usual.
The United States only informed Israel that it intended to attack Iran. The Gulf states and all U.S. Western allies were left in the dark. Still, Trump requested their help several days later, when it became obvious that his attack had not been successful.
Instead of asking politely, he insulted them as he usually does. No one except NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte was naive enough to say they would help. With his numerous baseless insults against NATO and its members Trump has effectively destroyed NATOif his calls for the annexation of Canada and Greenland by the United States had not already done so.
Insults for everyone except Putin
Trump's support for Russia has never been more visible. Russian President Vladimir Putin is the only leader Trump never insults. When it came to light that Russia had provided Iran with targeting intelligence, Trump, Rubio and U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth surprisingly shrugged it off as irrelevant. They barely reacted to the news that Russia had delivered weapons to Iran through the Caspian Sea. Instead, Trump lifted oil sanctions on Russia, offering his friend Putin a huge windfall.
The US war in the Persian Gulf was extremely wasteful compared to Ukraine's flexibility. In the first three days of the war, the US shot down $25,000 worth of Iranian Shahid drones. hole. (PLN 93,000) using 800 Patriot missiles, each of which cost approximately USD 4 million. (PLN 14,903,000), while, according to the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, the USA has supplied Ukraine with only 600 Patriot missiles over four years.

Ukraine mass-produces cheap interceptor drones for $2,500. (PLN 9,000) – as much as PLN 2,000 a day. Zelensky repeatedly offered Trump his help, but as is his custom, Trump simply insulted Zelensky. Ukraine wisely cooperates instead with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait, while the United States continues its wasteful madness. NATO was supposed to buy American weapons for Ukraine financed by the EU, but now the United States says it will not supply weapons to Kiev for $750 million. (PLN 2,794 million).
Parliamentary elections will be held in Hungary on April 12. There is much hope that autocratic and corrupt Prime Minister Viktor Orban — who has focused his campaign on attacking Ukraine — will eventually lose. Orban's main supporters are Trump, Putin, Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, right-wing French politician Marine Le Pen, far-right Dutch politician Geert Wilders and other right-wing extremists. This set shows how far the United States has fallen under Trump.
Wasted trust
The main consequence of the Iran war is that not only Trump, but also the United States have lost all credibility due to lies and misrepresentations. If you work for Trump, you have to lie. Hegseth lied and claimed that the United States had too few Tomahawk missiles because former US President Joe Biden gave too many of them to Ukraine. In fact, Biden has never given any Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.
Negotiating with someone who has no credibility, as is the case with the United States under Trump, is almost impossible. Stock market watchers say Trump weakens stock markets with bad news late in the week and then comes up with good news in the early morning hours of Monday. The stock market is regaining balance, and someone close to the White House is making a huge fortune. The United States has never had such bad and corrupt leadership.
Last Monday, Trump claimed that he received a call from a very senior Iranian who wanted to open the Strait of Hormuz and halt all activities related to the nuclear program. Given Trump's obvious lies, the world waited for confirmation from Tehran, and the Iranian government responded that no conversation had taken place.
Trump continues to claim that the Iranians are “desperate” to reach an agreement, which, with his typical distortion of facts, means that he is desperate to end their unnecessary and disastrous war.
