Earthquake in Romania with a magnitude of 3.9 occurred on Sunday afternoon

An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.9 was proposed on Sunday, at 17:16, in Vrancea county, according to information published by the National Research and Development Institute for Earth Physics (INCDFP), reports Agerpres.

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 140 km near the following cities: 52 km west of Focşani, 58 km east of Sfântu-Gheorghe, 67 km north of Buzău, 70 km east of Braşov, 93 km northeast of Ploiesti and 99 km south of Bacău.

The most important earthquake this year, with a magnitude of 4.5, occurred on February 26, also in Vrancea county.

Last year, the largest earthquakes, both measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale, occurred on February 13, in Buzău County, and on May 11 in Vrancea County. In 2024, the most important earthquake had a magnitude of 5.4 and occurred in Buzău County, on September 16.
