In a document published by the White House Donald Trump declared a state of emergency, pointing to the mass departures of TSA employees as a consequence of the lack of paychecks.

The president emphasized that almost 500 officers had resigned and thousands of others were on leave. As a result, waiting times for security checks have increased to over four hours at some airports.
