74 people suspected of cooperation with Russia were detained


As Newsmaker reported, the detainees were to be commissioned by Moscow to cause chaos and weaken the election process. “The ultimate goal of these activities is to undermine the internal stability and electoral process to increase the influence of the Russian Federation” – it was written in a police announcement.
According to investigators, detainees regularly went to Serbia, where training conducted by Russian services underwent, including weapons and provocative techniques. The director of Moldovan intelligence (SIS) Alexandru Musteata revealed that the operation was managed by Russian agent Andrey Pavlov, cooperating with the pro -Russian oligarchy Ilan Shor.
The scale of the investigation and warnings for Moldova
The investigation began in July 2025. During it over 200 searches were carried out, during which weapons, ammunition and other evidence were secured. Suspects threaten from four to eight years in prison.
Moldovan authorities have repeatedly alerted about attempts to destabilize from the Kremlin. Also, Bloomberg and BBC reports indicate that Moscow was planning interference in parliamentary elections and the obstruction of Moldova's way to membership in the European Union.
