A well-known England supporter has put his £350,000 (around €403,000) house up for sale to fund a seven-week trip to this summer's World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Andy Milne, who became famous in Qatar, at the World Cup in 2022, accompanies the national team of England in the final tournaments since 1982

Andy Milne, 62, has become a recognizable figure at England men's and women's national team matches after a photo of him at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar wearing an England shirt and holding a replica trophy went viral.
The retired teacher currently lives in Thailand and is preparing to accompany England to their 10th World Cup. Milne's first experience was in Spain in 1982 when he was just 19 years old and all his possessions were stolen.
Since then, the supporter has followed England to another eight men's World Cups and was also present at the 2023 Women's World Cup in Australia, where the “lionesses” reached the final, losing to Spain (0-1).
To fund his trip to this year's tournament, Milne, described by some as a Steve McLaren lookalike, has decided to sell his second home in Northwich, Cheshire. “I really want to see the whole tournament“, he told the Mirror newspaper. “I will be leaving for the US on June 3rd and will be there for seven weeks, so it will cost quite a bit of money“.
The supporter explained his decision: “The last tournament in Qatar was a gift for me, I saved for years. We've had this second home for 27 years, so it felt like the right time to make use of it.”
His dedication has earned him top capper status in the national team's official supporters' club, which allows him to buy tickets for all of England's group stage games in the US, in addition to securing tickets to an eventual final.
Milne will be in attendance for England's first match against Croatia on June 17 and is also planning a drive to Graceland, the former home of Elvis Presley.
However, the trip promises to be expensive. FIFA has been the target of criticism for its ticket pricing policy. On the “black” market, the cheapest tickets for England and Scotland's group stage matches already exceed €500.
The former head of science at Grange School, in Northwich, is looking for ways to save. “I always try to do things on the cheap if possible. I'm lucky enough to have friends in Mexico, Dallas and Vancouver,” he revealed. “Travel costs are high; we bought flights in advance because we can change them even if the departure times change by only 10 minutes.”
