Barcelona and Lamine Yamal (17 years old) have reached an agreement for a new contract, until 2031. The young player had a meteoric ascension in world football, and the Catalans already consider it a central piece for the future of the club.
The businessman Jorge Mendes was in Barcelona on Monday to discuss various aspects of transfers with the club, but Lamine Yamal's contract was a priority on the agenda. The subject has been discussed public since December, but the young player has given assurances that he will not leave Camp Nou.
The contract will come into effect in July when Lamine Yamal turns 18
According to Mundo Deportivo, quoted by Sportal.BG, after the last meeting between Mendes and the president of Barcelona, Joan Laporta, who have a good relationship, only a few details remain. The specialist in Transfers Fabrizio Romano claims that the agreement will be valid until 2031, although the initial idea was for the extension to be until 2030. Yamal could sign the contract today.
It is remarkable that the striker will be only 23 years old when this contract expires, if it is really valid until 2031. The contract will enter into force in July, when Lamine Yamal will turn 18, because minor players are limited to contracts for only three years.

The Sport daily adds that if Yamal will achieve certain performances, it will become the best paid player in the team and thus surpass Robert Lewandowski, who now earns 26 million euros per season. But the Deco sports director denied the information that the 17 -year -old would have asked for the highest team salary.
