Sorin Grindeanu spoke at the end of the South West Oltenia regional meeting of the party about the functioning of the coalition.
“Every time we come up with a proposal, we have to threaten. And yes, it's about the economy. And I would convey directly: Ilie, it's about the economy, and it's not about poverty. And right now, in Romania, things are going in a bad direction. That's what we analyzed today, and that's what we'll analyze at all the regional meetings we'll have in the coming period”said Sorin Grindeanu.
Sorin Grindeanu accused the party's lack of influence within the coalition and accused Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan of “he did not behave like a prime minister“.
“PSD represents 45% of the coalition as a share of seats in the Parliament. The conclusion of today's meeting is that the prime minister did not behave like a prime minister. When you have the votes and you are part of a coalition where the largest party is not taken into account or when it is taken into account it has to threaten things are no longer coordinated constructively. We, on April 20, will hold this consultation in which those who vote will be informed of all options. From many colleagues stood up in the hall with good proposals”continued Sorin Grindeanu.
Grindeanu stated that there are three scenarios: “Let's stay in this formula as we are now, with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan and in the current configuration, let's move into the opposition, the second option, obvious, and the third, let there be a reconfiguration within this pro-European coalition. There are no other scenarios”.
Regarding a possible alliance with the AUR, he claimed that the Social Democrats do not intend to ally with this party, nor will they support a minority government.
“PSD will not make an alliance with AUR. If we wanted that, we could do it in the budget. We will not support a minority government. I cannot speak for PNL. We are talking about a resettlement in this coalition. This means a change of prime minister and government program. Stability is good when it brings you prosperity. We have stability in Belarus, North Korea and Russia, but that does not mean prosperity”said Sorin Grindeanu.
