Zelenski proposes cooperation with Bucharest to combat aerial threats. Ukraine is ready to support Romania “in any necessary way”

The Kiev leader said the attack deliberately targeted civilian infrastructure and commercial ships in southern Ukraine, near the borders with Romania.
“Last night, the Russians launched a deliberate attack on the Odesa region, which borders Romania. It was yet another cynical attack on civilian infrastructure in our cities and waters, targeting civilian transport shipsnere”, wrote on X Zelenski.
According to him, one of the drones used, similar to the Iranian Shahed ones frequently used by Russia, hit “an ordinary residential building in Romania”.
The Ukrainian president sent a message of support to the injured people and stated that Ukraine is ready to support Romania “in any necessary way” in such situations.
Kiev demands tougher sanctions against Russia
Zelenskiy insisted on the need to step up Western pressure on Moscow to prevent the war from expanding.
“It is necessary to increase the pressure on Russia so that this war is not prolonged or expanded”said the Ukrainian leader.
He added that Ukraine expects the new sanctions package prepared by the European Union to be “really strong” and cause significant losses for Russia.
Ukraine proposes military cooperation with Romania
And the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Andrii Sibiha, reacted after the Galati incident, stating that Ukraine is ready to cooperate closely with Romania to strengthen protection against drone attacks.
In a message published on the X platform, the Ukrainian official stated that the incursion of the Russian drone into the Romanian airspace proves that Moscow's aggression represents “a real threat to the Black Sea region and to the whole of Europe”.
“Strengthening support for Ukraine and increasing pressure on the aggressor, including through tougher sanctions, remain essential to restoring peace and security in the region“, said Sibiha.
The head of Ukrainian diplomacy emphasized that strengthening Ukraine's air defense is important not only for Kiev's security, but also for reducing risks to neighboring states.
“Ukraine is firmly on Romania's side. We are ready to cooperate closely to strengthen protection against such threats,” said the Ukrainian Foreign Minister.
The statements come after the incident in the city of Galați, where a Russian drone entered Romanian airspace and exploded on a block.
