The floods caused by the abundant rains on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, on Friday, led to the death of three people in a tourist city, according to the authorities, and the cars were taken up by the muddy torrents, AFP reports.
In several municipalities in the south-east and northwest of Bulgaria, an emergency has been declared.
Videos on social networks have shown cars as they are taken up by water on one of the main streets of the Hellenite resort from the Black Sea.
A man's lifeless body was found in an apartment in a hotel complex, and two rescuers died, officials announced.
There are also problems in the Sunny Beach resort, according to the images distributed on the Facebook page “Jurnal de weather”.
The floods damaged buildings and roads, and several vehicles were pushed by floods at sea, said the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Bulgaria, Toni Todorov, mentioning that a drone has been sent if there was a person in cars.
AFP notes that ecologists have been living alarm for years on the constructions on the Black Sea coast, saying that they aggravate the damage during natural disasters.
