Immediately after Romania's failure with Turkey, score 0-1from the play-off semi-final for the World Cup, discussions took place in the national team's locker room, in which Mircea Lucescu, Răzvan Burleanu and Mihai Stoichiță participated.
Romania once again missed qualifying for a World Championship. The wait has reached 28 years, the last presence of the “tricolors” at the World Cup dating back to 1998. The next World Cup will be held in 2030.
For the national team, there are 3 friendly matches, one on March 31 and two in June, then the Nations League games, in the fall, with Sweden, Bosnia and Poland.

After the failure in Istanbul, the management of the FRF went to the dressing room, and behind closed doors several discussions took place with the coach and the players.
The president of the FRF and the technical director of the Federation went to the locker room first. Meanwhile, Lucescu was present at the flash-interviews and at the press conference, being waited for over half an hour by the FRF management.
A few players had even managed to leave the locker room when the federals appeared, including Ștefan Baiaram, who made his way back. Claudiu Petrila, the winger of Rapid, was left alone in the coach.
Răzvan Burleanu gave a speech of encouragement to the national football players, according to information from the stadium.
Burleanu was not the only one to speak. Various voices are talking about a complex message that Lucescu sent to his students, near the end of his mandate.

After an hour of discussions, Burleanu came out of the locker room and offered several statements. He said that Mircea Lucescu will be on the bench for the next match, the March 31 friendly against Slovakia.
“Mr. Lucescu will definitely stay for the next match as well. It's a pity, it was a game in which Turkey was better. But we showed that we could rise to the level of the Turks. It was unlucky, if Stanciu's shot went in, we were in a different situation.
It was a dream for us, for all of us, for Mr. Lucescu, for our players, but also for the Romanian fans. It is a failure of us, of all of us. I wanted to be by their side, we can only support them in difficult moments”, declared Burleanu.
Mircea Lucescu refused to answer concretely the questions related to his future on the national team bench: “I did not fight with anyone, nor with any problem. I came from the desire to be here.” Then he walked away from the reporters.
