A new section of express road that few people have heard will be ready in July, according to HotNews.ro sources, although a few months ago the Minister of Transport announced as a deadline for inauguration. Once open to traffic, the section will decongest a city in Transylvania and will make the drivers access to Cluj-Napoca much easier.
The express road DEX4 A3 – Tureni/DN1 will be ready to open traffic in July, sources close to the project said for HotNews.ro.
The new term comes after in March the Minister of Transport, Sorin Grindeanu, announced that the piece of road will be ready on May 17, although independent observers were talking as “the most optimistic scenario”.
Removes traffic from Turda and facilitates access to Cluj-Napoca
The new high -speed road, about five kilometers long, will connect the Transilvania A3 highway and the national road DN1, near Tureni.
Although it is a short section, it will be part of a larger project, DEX 4 Turda-Dej, and the piece is now close to completion will have the main purpose to remove much of the A3-DN1 transit traffic to Cluj-Napoca, from Turda.
Because the Transilvania A3 highway reaches Gilău, far west of Cluj-Napoca, most drivers who want to reach the Transylvanian metropolis choose to get off A3 on DN1 before Turda and cross the city to reach Cluj.
The new express road will eliminate the transit of Turda municipality and will allow the traffic in the direction of Cluj-Napoca closer to the city.

The piece of express road has a length of only 5 km, but it involves making two connection roads with A3 and DN1 whose connection straps – some with two lanes per direction – also measure another 5 km.
