Road accident with two TIRs and a car, on the European road E70, between Lugoj and Găvojdia. One of the road trains was carrying ammonium nitrate, a potentially dangerous substance.

As a result of the impact, a man, driver of one of the trucks, was slightly injured. He received medical attention at the scene from the crew of the County Ambulance Service, but refused transport to the hospital.
According to the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU) Timiș, the accident was reported by calling 112 around 10:26. Firefighters from the Lugoj Detachment were mobilized to the site of the intervention, with a first intervention and command vehicle, as well as two firefighting vehicles.
In view of the dangerous load of one of the road trains, the authorities have taken strict safety measures. The area near the town of Lugojel was evacuated for a radius of 500 meters, and road traffic was completely blocked in both directions. Traffic is expected to resume after 12:00.
The other truck involved in the accident was carrying ballast. Firefighters ensured fire prevention and extinguishing measures to avoid an explosion or major incident.
Representatives of the Environmental Guard also intervened at the scene, monitoring the situation to prevent possible effects on the environment.
The authorities are continuing their investigations to determine exactly the causes of the accident.
