The man, born in 1982, of Romanian origin, was called Alin Ionut Pascondea. He died on Saturday, in Via Covignano in Rimini, in a road accident in which no other vehicles were involved.
The 43-year-old man was cycling down from the Santuario delle Grazie area on the Covignano hill when he lost control of the bike, failed to take the curve and hit his head violently against the wall on the side of the road, writes Altarimini.
This is a very popular area with riders from Rimini and the province, and the curve from that point is quite difficult. Upon impact with the wall, the 43-year-old man suffered a serious head injury, which rendered the attempts of 118 emergency personnel to resuscitate him futile.
The Romanian leaves behind a wife kneeling in pain and two small children, a 9-year-old boy and a 7-year-old girl, who will have to grow up without a father.
