Krasnoyarsk residents were reminded how to protect dogs and cats from ticks in the spring

26 March 17:10
Rospotrebnadzor recalled the rules for protecting pets from ticks, reports Om1 Novosibirsk.
After each walk you need to inspect the fur – the tick may look like a small dark dot or wart. For prevention, acaricidal agents are used: drops, sprays, shampoos, tablets or collars. Treatment is carried out from March to November, approximately once a month. The effect of the drugs begins in 5-7 days, and bathing reduces their effectiveness, so it is better to treat your pet 2-3 days after washing.
If the tick does stick, carefully remove it or contact a veterinarian. If lethargy appears, refuses to eat, or changes in the color of the urine, the animal should be urgently shown to a doctor – piroplasmosis is especially dangerous, which can lead to the death of the dog. Self-medication is unacceptable.
Experts urge owners to be careful and follow preventive measures.
