Governor Mikhail Kotyukov assessed the work of the overhauled rheumatology center on the basis of the Krasnoyarsk interdistrict clinical 20th hospital. It is the only one in the region and provides a full range of specialized care, including high-tech treatment methods. More than 6 thousand patients are treated here every year, the government said.

The center is located in a therapeutic building: on the ground floor there is a consultation room where patients are sent from clinics, on the second there are day and 24-hour hospitals. During the coronavirus pandemic, the center found itself disunited: its units worked in different buildings, but now they are all under one roof again. Doctors of the same specialty work side by side, which directly affects the quality of diagnosis and treatment. A room of efferent methods was also opened here to carry out procedures for purifying the blood of antibodies and toxins that provoke inflammation. The center cooperates with the Research Institute of Rheumatology named after. V.A. Nasonova and leading rheumatologists of the country.
The hospital's chief physician, Evgeniy Kononov, told the head of the region about the center's capabilities, noting that the updated premises provided the technologies necessary for the treatment of serious illnesses:
“We have received a fundamentally new platform for work: in one place there is a consultation, round-the-clock and day hospitals, and an intensive care unit nearby. We are developing new techniques, including a procedure of the highest level – selective immunosorption. During this process, we remove immune complexes from the blood that cause the disease. This technique is not available in any clinic outside the Urals. Biological therapy can radically change disease outcomes and maintain quality of life. We provide care to rheumatology patients at the most modern level. Now more than a thousand residents of the region receive genetic engineering biological therapy in our center. In the near future we will launch telemedicine consultations, including on the MAX platform. This will improve the quality of care for patients from the region.”
Doctors say that the opening of an updated rheumatology center in Hospital No. 20 will significantly improve the quality and availability of medical care for residents of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

After inspecting the center, Mikhail Kotyukov held a meeting with the management of the clinical hospital, outlining development priorities for the coming years. He noted that it is important for the institution to preserve modern technologies and introduce advanced treatment methods so that residents of the region receive high-level care without leaving for federal clinics:
“I believe that the 20 should become a platform for the introduction of advanced treatment methods and more actively use the resources of young specialists. The Minister of Health and the Chief Physician confirmed today that everything is there for this: the hospital now has eight departments of the medical university, and there is also a medical college on the territory. Future doctors and nurses will master modern technologies immediately during their studies.”
