According to Zinchenko, since the evening of March 23, he refused to eat. He has no complaints against the administration of the pre-trial detention center, but he protests against the actions of a specific employee.
As Zinchenko explained, in 2025, people supporting him handed over a “buffet wall” to the pre-trial detention center for training, but it disappeared.
“A man comes up to me – Sergei Petrovich the Beast. He tells me that we won’t install anything in any courtyards, let it lie in the warehouse, and then everything will be returned to you. I think, well, it’s not mine anyway, I don’t care, but what happens then: on March 18, 2026, this Sergei Petrovich Beast comes to my cell. I ask him to return all these things not to me, but to the one who bought it. But he tells me the following: “She “It’s already standing where it needs to be.” This was said in the presence of my cellmate, he is ready to confirm all these words,” Zinchenko said.
As it turned out, his cellmate is Mikhail Scelnikov, accused of murdering MP Andrei Parubiy, media reports.
Zinchenko added that on the same day, March 18, he wrote a statement about starting a hunger strike until the wall bars were returned or monetary compensation was paid.
The next day, March 19, the morning of the trial, a pre-trial detention center worker named Zver came to him again and promised to return the wall on the 24th at the next court hearing. Zinchenko agreed and temporarily stopped his hunger strike, but the next day he was informed that the things would not be returned and they disappeared.
“I believe that what was sent to me was brazenly stolen. Therefore, since I believe that I was treated unfairly, I must protest. I respect the people who support me, so I wrote a statement last night (about the start of the hunger strike), and handed it over to the boss,” Zinchenko said.
Suspilne reported that at the preparatory meeting for the murder of Parubiy, also held on March 24, Scelnikov confirmed that his cellmate’s wall had been stolen and stated that he would also go on a hunger strike if the issue was not resolved.
“Continuing the topic: a Swedish wall was stolen from my cellmate. It was stolen by the administration. I don’t know who is there, what is there, but the man went on a hunger strike. As a sign of support, if this issue is not resolved, then I will also go on a hunger strike,” Scelnikov said.
