A participant in a special military operation from Krasnoyarsk, Vadim Konovalov, who was seriously wounded near Bakhmut, told gornovosti.ru in an interview how he started a new sports career.

The fighter served in a rifle unit and was wounded during the assault on enemy positions – part of his right leg was torn off below the knee. After treatment in a hospital near St. Petersburg and receiving a modern prosthesis, the fighter began active rehabilitation.

“I’m used to not being afraid! I'm used to not feeling pain! – says Vadim. “If you start pushing all this away from yourself, then you won’t have to live with it.”

After being wounded, Konovalov not only recovered, but also received a promotion – he was awarded the rank of officer. Now he works as a senior expert specialist at the military commissariat in Krasnoyarsk. For courage in battles he was awarded the medal “For Courage”.

Now the Krasnoyarsk resident plays in the SVO veterans team in sitting volleyball and recently received his first sports rank.

Before his service, Vadim was a professional hockey player – he played as a goalkeeper in the Avangard and Sokol teams. As the veteran admits, sports training helped him withstand all the tests. Now he has made new friends in sitting volleyball and continues to demonstrate fortitude, serving as an example for other fighters.
