The Air Canada plane that collided with a fire engine during landing at LaGuardia Airport in New York on Sunday evening was seriously damaged, according to images published after the tragedy. The pilot and co-pilot died in the crash, and dozens of others were injured, according to NBC News.
The accident happened around 23:40 local time. The CRJ-900, which was coming from Montreal, struck a Port Authority rescue and firefighting vehicle responding to a separate incident.
The plane was operated by Jazz Aviation, Air Canada's regional partner, and had 72 passengers and four crew members on board.
Images captured at the scene showed serious damage to the plane's nose, which was tilted upwards. According to Flightradar24, the plane hit the vehicle at a speed of about 39 km/h.

The pilot and co-pilot lost their lives in the accident.
Two people in the fire truck were also injured in the crash, a law enforcement official told CNN.

The ambulance had been dispatched to assist another nearby flight that had requested assistance due to an unknown odor in the cabin, the official said.
