In Zheleznogorsk, seven members of an organized crime group were sent to a colony for extortion (video)

In Zheleznogorsk, the verdict was announced for seven members of an organized criminal group accused of embezzlement and extortion. This was reported in the press service of the regional police.

According to the investigation, between 2017 and 2023, the attackers committed five episodes of extortion from residents of the closed city. They received information about the debts of Zheleznogorsk residents, introduced themselves as law enforcement officers, and then, under threat and with the use of violence, demanded money from people.

In addition, in the summer of 2017, members of the organized crime group illegally appropriated a Honda Accord car entrusted to them, worth 800 thousand rubles, and disposed of it at their own discretion.

The false law enforcement officers were detained by criminal investigation officers with the forceful support of special forces from the Directorate of the Russian Guard.

Criminal cases were opened against seven men under paragraph “a” of Part 3 of Art. 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Extortion” and part 4 of Art. 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Misappropriation or embezzlement.” All members of the organized group were taken into custody during the investigation. To compensate for material damage, the money of the accused was seized.

Having considered the evidence collected by investigators, the Zheleznogorsk City Court of the Krasnoyarsk Territory found the men guilty and sentenced them to imprisonment for terms of 8 to 14 years.

The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
