Warm apple compote with cinnamon and zest – I make it in a saucepan in 15 minutes from what is left over after the holidays

After a week of feasts, you want lightness, but not emptiness. This compote is like a hug from the inside: it is sweet, but not cloying, aromatic, but not intrusive. It calms the nerves, improves digestion and gently “washes away” the feeling of heaviness from salads and baked goods. And it is made from apples that are in the box, and zest from tangerines that are no longer needed.

You will need:

Apples – 3 pcs.
Water – 1.5 l
Honey – 2-3 tbsp. l.
Cinnamon – 1 stick or ½ tsp. ground
Zest of 1 tangerine or orange
2-3 cloves or a pinch of cardamom

How to cook:

  • Wash the apples, cut into slices, you don’t have to remove the peel.
  • Pour water into a saucepan, add apples, cinnamon, zest and spices.
  • Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes over low heat, covered.
  • Remove from heat, add honey, stir.
  • Leave for 5 minutes, then strain.
  • Serve warm.

Have a nice and warm evening!
