The city councilors of Sopot, by a majority of votes, adopted a resolution on the creation of the City Center Paid Parking Zone in the city. The resolution will enter into force on May 1, 2026. This means that you will also have to pay for parking in the resort center on weekends.

Marek Niziołek from the City Hall in Sopot announced that the resolution adopted on Thursday by the City Council will enable fees to be collected in the city on weekends.
Area of the Śródmieście Paid Parking Zone (ŚSPP) established in Sopot will cover almost the entire area of the current Sopot Paid Parking Zone (SPP). ŚSPP will consist of subzones A and B, with the dividing line along ul. Boh. Monte Cassino. Small areas of the city, including the following streets: 1 Maja, 23 Marca, Grottgera and Moniuszki as well as Rzemieślnicza and Jana z Kolna will remain in the Paid Parking Zone (subzones C and D) and will not be included in the ŚSPP.
It will be possible to pay fees on a per-minute basis, in proportion to the fees for individual time segments, rounded down to the nearest possible fee, and the minimum fee must be paid in full.
SPP fees will be collected on business days, Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. in the period from April 1 to September 30, and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the period from October 1 to March 31.
Fees at ŚSPP will be collected every day, except for days such as: Easter Sunday, Easter Monday, November 1, December 24, December 25 and December 26, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. in the period from April 1 to September 30, and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the period from October 1 to March 31.
Residents of Sopot who have a Sopot Card with an active Resident Package and Parking Package will be able to use free parking for up to two hours a day, every day from Monday to Saturday.
You will be able to park for free twice, one hour each, or use two hours at once. With the Sopot Card, parking on Sundays will also be free of charge. The discounts will apply to all zones and subzones throughout the city.
The flat-rate fee for people residing in both SPP and ŚSPP remains unchanged and amounts to PLN 10 per 30 days. The rate for other subscriptions will not change either.
The way parking fees are controlled will not change. In addition to foot patrols, remote inspections will also be carried out, using cameras placed in cars that automatically scan all vehicles parked in the zones. Drivers will be charged PLN 300 for not paying a parking fee.
According to Niziołek, Sopot has been trying for many years to change the regulations that prevented charging fees on weekends. Until recently, collecting parking fees seven days a week was only possible in larger cities and only they could create City Center Paid Parking Zones.
Finally, in June 2025, an amendment to the regulations on ŚSPP entered into force, abolishing size restrictions. After Thursday's decision of councilors in Sopot, it will be possible to collect parking fees on weekends. (PAP)
