The accident took place on Saturday morning on the national road DN 24, at the exit from Vaslui county towards Galati, involving a bus with 44 passengers coming from Chisinau and heading towards Otopeni. The authorities have activated the red intervention plan.
The event was reported at 4:30 a.m., and among the 16 victims is a 62-year-old man, who died. He was in the coach with his wife and daughter.
The other passengers who were injured were transported to hospitals in Tecuci and Bârlad. The victims suffered trauma, but their condition is stable, ISU Vaslui representatives said.
The passengers were in a bus from the Republic of Moldova and were heading to Otopeni, according to the prefect of Vaslui county, Eduard Popica.
The traffic police are conducting on-site investigations to establish the causes of the accident.

The driver of the bus said that a car appeared on the opposite side and, in order to avoid a frontal impact, he pulled the steering wheel to the right, leaving the roadway, sources from the intervention team told HotNews.
The bus passengers, who were not injured in the accident, were transported by ISU Vaslui minibuses to a day care center in Bârlad.
