Naomi Osaka (28, 15 WTA) was eliminated in the second round of the Miami Open after a surprising loss to Talia Gibson (21, 68 WTA), score 5-7, 4-6, in one hour and 28 minutes.

A week and a half ago, Naomi Osaka stopped in the round of 16 of Indian Wells, being eliminated by Aryna Sabalenka (27 years old, 1 WTA), the player who would win the title.

The four-time Grand Slam winner then flew to Miami, where she entered the competition directly in the second round. Osaka's opponent was Talia Gibson, who got past Sara Bejlek (20 years old, 41 WTA) in the opening round, score 6-1, 6-0.

The Australian also played very well against the Japanese and won her first set in 48 minutes, managing a break in the 11th game of the sequence. Gibson saved two break points at 6-5 and then closed out the set.

Affected by the loss of the opening sequence, Osaka surrendered her serve at the start of the second set and her opponent did not waste this opportunity. Gibson won on his own serve and, after 88 minutes, he prevailed 7-5, 6-4.

So, the 21-year-old player qualified for the third round, where she will meet Iva Jovic (18 years, 17 WTA). In the second round, the American beat Paula Badosa (28 years old, 100 WTA) 6-2, 6-1.

Gibson has an incredible streak of results in the United States. The world number 68 entered the Indian Wells qualifiers and had 6 straight wins before stopping in the 'quarters'where she was defeated by Linda Noskova (21 years old, 13 WTA), score 2-6, 6-4, 2-6.

Then Gibson entered the qualifiers in Miami and won 4 more matches in a row, reaching the third round and having great morale before the duel with Jovic.
