Krasnoyarsk woman believed in easy money from investments and lost 5.6 million rubles

Scammers defrauded Krasnoyarsk out of 5.6 million rubles. Another case of cyber fraud was reported to the regional prosecutor's office.

An employee of one of the city clinics registered in the VK Dating application in January of this year in search of communication. The new acquaintance quickly turned the conversation to Telegram and offered her easy money on investments.

According to him, an experienced trader should have contacted her, and then his manager. Under the dictation of her “mentors,” the woman registered on the unknown Vertastik platform and began transferring money. The first contributions were small – 25 thousand rubles. Seeing the growth of virtual profits in the application, she continued to “invest.”

When her personal savings ran out, the scammers convinced her to take out loans and borrow from friends. At some point, the woman received a letter about the freezing of her brokerage account; to unfreeze it, she had to pay for “insurance.” She transferred money, but the account was blocked again, requiring new investments. In a month, the woman lost 5.6 million rubles.

“I had previously heard about various types of fraud, but I believed that you could really make money this way. The callers were very convincing,” the victim said.

A criminal case has been initiated under an article of fraud.
