Specialists from the Krasnoyarsk Rospotrebnadzor explained how pomegranate juice can be beneficial for health and in which cases it is better to avoid it.

Pomegranate juice contains natural antioxidants – flavonoids, as well as vitamins C, P, B6 and B12, which strengthen the immune system, blood vessels and nervous system. It contains potassium for the heart, magnesium for the nervous system, copper for the absorption of iron, and iron itself to prevent anemia. It is especially useful during the recovery period after illness, for elderly people and with low hemoglobin.

However, doctors warn: due to its high acidity, it is better to dilute the juice with water and drink through a straw – this way there is less risk of damaging tooth enamel. After use, you should rinse your mouth. It should be drunk with caution if you have gastritis with high acidity, stomach ulcers and a tendency to constipation. It is not recommended to give juice to young children.

When purchasing, you should choose a glass container to evaluate the color. Real juice should be red-burgundy and clear, and should not contain added sugar. You need to store the drink in a dark place, so if it is in direct light in the store, it is better to look for another option.
