22 January 17:45

In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, in preparation for the fire season in the forests, the fleet of special equipment will be updated, the fleet of drones and the video monitoring system will be expanded. This will improve the efficiency of protecting forests from fire.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry reported that almost 2,000 professionally trained forest fire specialists will be involved in the work.

This year, the region will increase the aviation control zone by 7.6 million hectares – to 54.1 million hectares, as well as the number of air patrol routes – from 94 to 103. Due to this, they will strengthen monitoring of the situation in remote areas that were previously controlled only using satellite data.

To detect fires in hard-to-reach areas, 34 additional UAVs will be purchased under the national project “Unmanned Aircraft Systems.” Specialists of the Forest Fire Center will additionally be provided with high-performance special equipment, including snow and swamp-going vehicles, trucks, crew buses and boats.

The video monitoring network will be expanded to 181 video cameras. An additional 11 devices will be installed on cell towers near populated areas in 7 municipalities. The system has already proven its effectiveness – it detects fires at an early stage and automatically sends a signal to the dispatch service.

“The effectiveness of fighting fires directly depends on the speed of their detection. Fixing the outbreak in a small area and promptly delivering forces and means to the place of extinguishing allows you to extinguish the fire in small areas and reduce damage to the forest fund. In recent years, the Krasnoyarsk Territory, with the support of the Federation, has significantly modernized the entire system of protecting forests from fires through the introduction of advanced monitoring tools and strengthening forest fire units,” noted First Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Alexey Bolshakov.

Now specialists have special control over the preparation of forest land tenants for the season. Forestry inspectors and forestry employees check how forest users have equipped points on their territories with the necessary fire-fighting equipment.

The region pays close attention to outreach to the population. Residents of the region are told how to behave correctly in the forest, reminded of the rules for staying safe and warned about the consequences of careless handling of fire.

Already at the end of January – February, units of the regional Forest Fire Center will begin training specialists, including mandatory training for forestry special forces and ground services.

It should be noted that reducing the number of forest fires and minimizing damage to the forest fund is one of the objectives of the “Ecological Well-Being” national project.
