VIDEO Scandal caused by Anamaria Gavrilă during the budget debate: “Stay in your bank!”

POT President Anamaria Gavrila caused an incident in the plenary hall during the budget debate after she snapped at deputy Gabriela Porumboiu whom she reproached for speaking on behalf of the party, even though she is no longer part of it.

After Gabriela Porumboiu's budget-related intervention in plenary, Anamaria Gavrila went to her former party colleague to whom she addressed in a raised tone.

“Don't go there to speak on behalf of POT, stay in your bench, stay in your bench! (…) Resign if you have dignity. If you are not POT, do not go out there. You said that you are no longer POT and that you do not represent POT. Why are you going on behalf of POT and why are you going to support the coalition?”, Gavrila said, before leaving, visibly angry.

“We submitted a notice to the Parliament by which we asked to change the name of the POT party to “United for Romania”. We are waiting for a decision, it seems that there are other interests and we didn't play our part (…) But I don't want to be a star tonight, I told you what there was to say. You can go to Mrs. Anamaria to tell you why she screamed,” Gabriela Porumboiu told journalists.

The legal situation of the group of deputies of the Party of Young People (POT) is uncertain. The leader of the group, Răzvan Mirel Chiriță, asked the leadership of the Chamber of Deputies, at the beginning of February, to take note of the name change to “United for Romania”, but the president of the party, Anamaria Gavrilă, together with 5 other deputies, oppose and challenge Chiriță.

The latter claims that the request is based on a December 15, 2025 group decision, according to documents submitted to Parliament. Basically, if the amendment is approved, the deputies who support Chiriță will return to the POT group, but which has changed its name.

In reply, the president of POT, Anamaria Gavrilă, also sent a series of documents to the leadership of the Chamber of Deputies. Gavrila claims that, in fact, Chiriță is no longer a member of POT, so he can no longer be the leader of the parliamentary group and cannot ask for the group's name to be changed.

The request to set up the “United for Romania” group was sent to the Regulation Commission, for a point of view.
