In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, an engineer from a company from Kodinsk stole electricity for mining for almost two years, the prosecutor’s office said.
According to investigators, it all started in early 2024. An engineer from Vodootvedenie LLC from Kodinsk took advantage of service access to networks and installed “utility room» high power mining equipment.
“The operation lasted almost 2 years: the engineer, remaining in the shadows, consumed the energy of the enterprise. Neither the Internet point nor the buzzing of the farms raised any questions among the management – production was operating normally, and electricity bills were growing unnoticed. But during an operational check, law enforcement officers noticed anomalies in energy consumption and uncovered the circuit», — the press service said.
The damage to the company amounted to 1.2 million rubles. The prosecutor's office noted that the electricity could have been used for the needs of the city, and not for ventilation of the miners. A criminal case was opened for theft (Part 4 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The prosecutor's office took control of the investigation.
