The famous ferry will have a brother. Poland is growing stronger

The construction of the Bursztyn Unity ferry, a sister unit of Jantar Unity, at the Gdańsk Remontowa Shipyard is entering its final phase. While Jantar Unity has been operating connections on the Baltic Sea for two months, its brother is getting closer to completing construction, we read in a press release. According to initial announcements, the new ferry was to start sailing on the Baltic Sea in the second half of 2026.
“The construction of Bursztyn Unity is already at a very advanced stage. The unit is basically fully equipped, and we are currently focusing on launching individual systems, checking the correctness of their operation and intensive finishing works” – says Paweł Pluto-Prądzyński, director of Unity Line.
Ceilings, beds and furniture, carpets and other interior design elements are installed in the cabins. The equipment of recreational and social rooms, such as TV rooms, mess hall, kitchen and conference room, is also underway – the operator also says.
Like Jantar Unity, Bursztyn Unity will be one of the most modern passenger and cargo units on the Baltic Sea. Powered by four liquefied natural gas (LNG) engines and supported by a hybrid battery system, it will use azimuth thrusters at the stern and thrusters at the bow, which will provide exceptional maneuverability in ports, Unity Line also reports.
The new ferry will be – identical to Jantar Unity – 195.6 m long and 32.2 m wide, and will carry up to 400 passengers and 270 standard trucks. The crew will consist of 50 people. The unit will be equipped with modern air-conditioning and ventilation systems, lounge areas, cafeterias, bars, family areas and advanced security systems, including fire protection.
Let us remind you that Jantar Unity was presented in Szczecin at the end of January this year.
