New support for Ukraine. Big money will flow from Great Britain

“The UK will continue to provide long-term defense support to Ukraine in line with its commitment to provide at least £3 billion a year by 2030/31 and as much as needed to support Ukraine“, we read in the statement.
Air defense and arms purchases
London also announced further support for Ukrainian air defense. It is to include both activities within the Ukraine Defense Contact Group and financing of arms purchases in the United States under the PURL initiative.
Additionally, both countries declare to deepen cooperation within the Joint Expeditionary Force, an international expeditionary force operating under the leadership of Great Britain.

Joint technology projects of Great Britain and Ukraine
It is to be an important element of cooperation development of military technologies. The parties announced the continuation of the LYRA program, which includes increasing the production of OCTOPUS intercepting drones and developing further joint technological initiatives.
“Based on the agreements between Ukraine and the UK on the exchange of battlefield technologies of June 2025, we will continue cooperation under the LYRA program to increase the production of OCTOPUS interceptor drones and identify new joint initiatives in the field of defense technologies,” the document emphasizes.
The next project is Nightfall programwhich is intended to ensure that experience from the Ukrainian front will be directly used to create new technologies in the British defense industry.
Training of Ukrainian soldiers
The UK also intends to continue training Ukrainian military personnel as part of Operation Interflex.
In February, London already announced additional financial support for the urgent needs of Ukrainian air defense. British Defense Minister John Healey announced the allocation of half a billion pounds to strengthen these capabilities.
This decision was positively assessed by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, who considered it an important signal of further support for Ukraine in the face of the ongoing war.
