The renewable energy market in Poland is facing a big change. Starting from 2026, self-consumption will become key. Changes in the renewable energy support system mean that investors must plan their projects better and invest in modern solutions. Not only “ordinary” photovoltaics will be desirable, but also the accompanying energy storage facilities and advanced management systems.

The new approach and programs are intended not only to promote green energy, but also to stabilize the network and increase the energy efficiency of buildings. As the website Sunekoenergy.pl explains, the most important program is “My Electricity”. An important change is that a subsidy for photovoltaic panels (in the amount of approximately PLN 7,000) can only be obtained with an energy storage or management system. As Globenergia.pl points out, a transitional version of support has been available for people who did not manage to use the “Moj Prąd 6.0” program. However, it has been modified, and an important detail is the fact that investment costs will be eligible only from August 1, 2024 to October 31, 2025. Expenses incurred earlier will not be recognized. The installation must be connected to the network and confirmed by the operator by October 31, 2025. Installing the panels alone is not enough – formal confirmation of connection is necessary.
As Globenergia.pl explains, the subsidy covers photovoltaic micro-installations with a capacity of 2 to 20 kW, installed on existing residential buildings or plots next to the house. The condition is that an energy storage facility (at least 2 kWh of capacity, cost up to PLN 6,000 per 1 kWh) or a heat storage facility must also be registered for the program. The PV installation itself is not enough – the program is intended to increase energy consumption.

People who are thinking about incorporating innovations and emission-free heating sources in new, high-standard homes can apply for funding under the “Moje Ciepło” program. The direct purpose of the subsidy is the purchase and installation of a heat pump, but it takes into account synergy with photovoltaic panels.
This is a necessary condition to achieve the required primary energy index EP of less than 55 kWh per square meter per year. The subsidy in the “Moje Ciepło” program is from PLN 7,000. up to 21 thousand PLN, which may largely cover the costs of renewable energy supporting technology.

PLN for photovoltaics expenses from tax, but only applies to buildings already in use. It can be combined with subsidies, but only for expenses that are no longer financed. The settlement time is up to 6 years.
It is worth remembering that application processing has been fully digitized. Applications must be submitted online, you need a Trusted Profile. Device certificates, notifications to the operator and – in the case of larger installations – an opinion from a fire expert are required.
