The government is not working on such a tax
The conference was also attended by the leader of the New Left and the Speaker of the Sejm, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, as well as the Deputy Minister of Housing, Tomasz Lewandowski.
According to previous announcements by Left politicians the new tax would be paid once a year, and its amount would depend on the value of real estate owned. However, it is not yet known what the tax rate would be or which apartment would be liable to pay it.
The Left has already announced the idea of introducing a cadastral tax in the fall of 2025.

On the same day, the government's position was presented by the Minister of Finance and Economy, Andrzej Domański. He emphasized that the government is currently neither working on introducing a tax on vacant buildings nor on a cadastral tax..
A similar proposal was put forward by the Razem Party
Last November, his own project was presented by the leader of the Razem Party, Adrian Zandberg. It assumed the introduction of the so-called anti-speculation tax charged on value third and subsequent apartments.
The proposal provided for a progressive scale of taxation:
- from three to five apartments – 1 percent real estate values,
- from six to eight apartments – 2 percent,
- from nine and more – 3 percent values.
The aim of such solutions – according to their authors – would be to limit speculation on the housing market and increase the availability of apartments.
