Usually, government meetings take place every week on Tuesday. This time Prime Minister Donald Tusk ordered an additional meeting. The subject No. 1 is to be the budget project for 2026. The government also planned Discussion on the public finance sector management strategy in 2026–2029. These projects were presented as one of the most important items.
At the end of August, the draft budget was forwarded to the Social Dialogue Council in order to agree on the positions of representatives of employees and employers.

Budget with a deficit 6.5 percent GDP
The original version of the budget assumes revenues of approx. PLN 647 billion and expenses at the level of approx. PLN 919 billion. The deficit will amount to a maximum of PLN 272 billion, which is 6.5 percent. GDP. PLN 247.8 billion for health care and PLN 200 billion for defense were indicated from high expenses.

Rules for adopting the state budget
The draft budget act should go to the Sejm at least three months before the start of the budget year to which it relates – penetrates the constitution. The adopted budget act should go to the President to signature within 4 months from the date of handing over the draft budget act to the Sejm.
If this does not happen, the president may order shortening the term of office of the Sejm within 14 days. The Basic Law provides that the President signs the budget within 7 days or directs the Budget Act to the Constitutional Tribunal, which must be decided in this case no later than in 2 months of receipt of the Act.
