The State Duma proposed doubling the minimum wage
The initiative to increase the minimum wage was taken by the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs. The bill will be introduced for consideration today.
The explanatory note to the document clarifies that low wages impede the country's GDP growth and do not contribute to increasing labor productivity. The current minimum wage level is 19,242 rubles.
