Simulation of the National Assessment 2026: Today, students take the written exam in Romanian language and literature

VIIIth grade students take the written exam on Monday in Romanian Language and Literature, as part of the simulation for the 2024 National Assessment. Although the exam is held in over 97% of schools, in another 127 units the exam was suspended due to the teachers' boycott.

The simulation is carried out in 4,527 educational units in the country, according to the Ministry of Education. Instead, in 40 educational units in Bucharest, over 3,000 students will not support the simulation due to the teachers' boycott, according to the data sent by ISMB at the request of Edupedu.ro.

Education unions warned last week that the simulations would be “seriously disrupted”. According to trade unionists FSLI and “Spiru Haret”, the results of an internal referendum show a huge level of dissatisfaction: over 73,000 employees decided NOT to participate in the simulations, and another 40,000 opted directly to strike during this period.”

The simulation of the National Assessment takes place between March 16-18, the order of tests being: Romanian Language and Literature, Mathematics and Mother Tongue. The results are expected on March 30.

How long does the written test last?

Tests start at 9:00 a.m., and students have two hours to solve the subjects, according to the rules established by the Ministry of Education. Access to the rooms is allowed until 8:30, based on a valid ID.

Candidates who wish to hand in the papers earlier may leave the examination hall at least one hour after the start of the test, but without taking the subjects with them. In exceptional situations, which require cancellation and rewriting of the paper, the writing time can be extended by a maximum of one hour, according to the official procedure.
